Hi! I’m Dave Shinness, Principal of Highroad Academy, and I’d like to tell you a few important things about our school. We have strong, award-winning academics. Read More...
Welcome to Highroad Academy! Here is a short history and introduction to our school:
Our Mission “To glorify God, proclaim the gospel and develop in students a Christ-like maturity, empowered for ministry in the church and the world”.
At Highroad Academy we are proud of our past, present and future as a Christ-centered school offering superior education in a warm and supportive environment.
Highroad Academy began in 1978 as a fledging school with 35 students in the basement of Glad Tidings Fellowship (now City Life Church). Founder Fran Huebert wanted the highest academics and the highest spiritual development for the families of Glad Tidings. As Highroad became an established school enrollment grew, course offerings expanded, new buildings were constructed and families from other churches were welcomed.
Today Highroad Academy is a mature school with a province-wide reputation for excellent academics and championship-winning athletic teams. A ministry of City Life Church, Highroad includes over 400 students K-12 from 40 different churches in the Fraser Valley. An active Fine Arts program and an emphasis on service and leadership training round out an unparalleled educational experience.
In 2010, Highroad Children’s Centre was established. HCC is an extension of Highroad Academy offering Preschool and Out-of-School care, with a growth plan to add daycare and family support ministries each year.
Increasingly Highroad Academy is becoming an influential school as our administrators and teaching staff are sought out to share their expertise with colleagues throughout Western Canada. At the same time, we see our students follow the call to influence their world and the world to come.
What lies ahead for Highroad Academy? Influenced by compelling research supporting innovative teaching methods to support 21st century learning, staff are designing dynamic opportunities for spiritual growth and expanding programs such as apprenticeships, online courses, world missions, special needs, early intervention learning assistance, science clubs and more, embedding technology at every level.
Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work in us, to accomplish infinitely more than we can ask or think. Ephesians 3:20 NLT
