At Highroad Academy, we believe that we are called to train children in the way they should go. (Proverbs 22:6)  Our school motto challenges us to live, teach, and learn above and beyond. This is reflected in the passion that our teachers share in teaching all subjects from a Biblical world view.  The Bible addresses all aspects of our learning and evidence of this is reflected in our classrooms, bulletin boards and hallways. As we teach our students to honour God through their understanding of all He has created, we believe that we are equipping them to be successful in all the plans He has declared for them.

We believe that grades 7 and 8 are key years in the transition from Elementary to High School.  Up to grade six, the students will have spent each year in one classroom, in their own desk, with one main teacher who is involved in all of their subjects.  From grade 9 to 12, the students move from one classroom to another with a different teacher for each subject and they no longer have a desk to call their own.  The Grades 7 and 8 years become a bridge; external control to internal control.

One of our main goals is to see the students move from being dependent learners to independent learners.  This goal applies to many areas of their life; including academically and spiritually.  Just as we are helping the students to take responsibility for their academic learning, including their homework; we are also helping them to personalize their faith, making it their own and not just their parents. It is an exciting two years because a lot of changes are visible, and we get to share in the student’s growth.
