Starting this year, the elementary teacher ‘s at Highroad Academy are creating and working on “blogs” as a new way to effectively communicate to our parents and community.What is a blog? A blog is simply a type of website that allows a person to communicate in a manner much like a diary or journal. This year, all elementary teachers are working on using blogs to communicate more effectively with parents. Using a blog is a fantastic tool for teachers and parents as it allows a more personal and relevant communication. Instead of just one newsletter at the end of every month, where information and topics of study may have already happened, teachers can instead keep parents informed on projects, notes, thoughts and classroom events as they are happening. This allows parents to be better informed about what is happening in their child’s classroom. Blogs are also an excellent way to encourage students to continue learning outside of school. From the blog, students will be able to access videos, links and interesting posts on topics they are involved in at school. These are just a couple of the many benefits we have seen from using our classroom blogs.
