The Music Man 2009

This was the year we decided to try doing a big Broadway musical again...  And what a year it has been - we've had the largest class yet!  There are 33 drama students... that's okay, a big musical needs a cast of thousands, doesn't it?  The kids have been enormously dedicated, especially the  seniors.  They memorized their lines early on, they took those practice CD's home and sang the songs for their families... they went shopping at Value Village for costumes.  We actually began practicing the dance numbers in December, and we knew who our cast members were in early January after auditions.  March and April have been challenging though, we've only had one hour a week of scheduled class time due to holidays, pro-d days, field trips, basketball provincials and EDS training.  It's okay though - the kids are professionals and we plugged on!  Thanks to all the parents who allowed the kids to stay after school or come in on a Saturday night for a little extra time.

Though some of us had little faith, the faith of a mustard seed was all we needed! We pulled it off!  Thanks so much to Mr. Shinness, Mr. Hancock, Mr. Preston and Mr. Neudorf for joining our cast this year.  They helped really set the zeitgeist of the era with their harmonies! Mr. Maccan outdid himself again with our stage set and Mrs. Caswell is a great partner - both as a team teacher handling the musical end of things, and a prayer partner through the harder moments.

Thanks to the ladies in the office for handling advertising, ticket sales, phone calls, accounting, and the concession; we couldn't have pulled it off without you at all!  I owe many more people THANKS! This musical certainly was one of the highlights of the year!  Thanks again for making it magical!
